“Ohio”
Country singer Deidre Thornell released her newest single, “Ohio” on August 26th. This is Deidre Thornell’s second single, following the release of “The Rest of Forever” in 2021. This track was written in conjunction with Liz Dorros and Tim Pasley and produced by Sal Oliveri.
“Ohio” is a classic take on a country love song. The track features a twangy guitar and chill drums, but the stars are Thornell’s vocals. She has a sweet and honest tone, with added reverb to create a dreamy air of nostalgia. The song captures the essence of driving down a winding back road during the summer. Thornell sings about the memories of a first love that overtake her once she returns home. The verses are stripped back, with only the vocals, acoustic guitar and drum beat. But as the chorus hits, the instrumentals intensify to convey her memories of that young love. All of the feelings rush back, but Thornell knows that the time has passed. She’s grown, and can’t look back now.
Deidre Thornell has had a promising start to her career, with credits like singing the National Anthem for the Dallas Cowboys. She has two more singles scheduled for 2022, and I can’t wait to hear what they are.
