“Where Would I Be”
Yelitza Cintron may have only released her first English song, “Where Would I Be,” last June, but she was already known for her amazing work in the Spanish music community. In fact, “Where Would I Be” was also released in Spanish and Portuguese, as “Dónde Estaría Yo” and “Onde Estaria Eu” respectively. She recorded the English and Portuguese renditions with Lucas & Evelyn Cortazio and Community Music.
The track opens with a quiet, soothing melody and Evelyn Cortazio begins to sing. Her voice has a clear and light quality, which sets the tone for the song. She is quickly joined by Lucas, who starts a quiet and supportive harmony. “Where Would I Be” is a worship song, thanking God for His sacrifices. The lyrics give thanks while also acknowledging that the artists would not be in their current position without His grace.
As the song approaches the chorus, Community Music’s accompaniment crescendos to showcase the powerful guitar, drums, and piano. This change in intensity is met by Yelitza officially joining in. She has a strong and rich voice that rings out over the band and Lucas’s harmonies. However, she never entirely eclipses them. The three musical lines blend beautifully in a way that washes over the listener. As the song comes to it’s conclusion, Evelyn joins again, and as song winds down they all give thanks to God.
Yelitza is from Puerto Rico, and began singing and writing only in her native Spanish. However, she received a message from God asking that she also write and sing in English and Spanish to help spread His message. She was honored to be asked, and has started to create music in all three languages.
Yelitza, the Cortazios and Community Music are all accomplished artists, so be sure to take a look at their socials to learn more about them and where you can find their work.
