“Reform”

Nashville-based artist Kristie Fleur released her single “Reform” this past May, and she’s not pulling any punches. “Reform” opens with only an acoustic guitar and Fleur’s voice. She has a heavy R&B influence, and croons out smooth vocals. Once the chorus begins, we’re hit by an explosion of sound. Soulful harmonies join Fleur’s melody, and the acoustic guitar is met with drums and bass. A few electric guitar riffs manage to shimmer through during the bridge. The track, produced by Galen Crew and 318 Collective Music, creates a blend of Fleur’s beautiful vocal tones, the harmonies, and instrumentation that makes “Reform” easy listening and a track you’ll want to return to.

Don’t let the silky voice and soulful beats fool you, though; Fleur is delivering biting lyrics, calling out the hypocrisy she sees in the church. She sees injustice and a lack of mercy in her institution and wants change. She repeatedly warns that if they want “revival,” then they need to reform. The empty words and ornate buildings do not hide the cracks she sees in the church’s foundation. It’s time for the community to look inwards, and Kirstie Fleur is here to demand just that.

Kristie Fleur pulls inspiration from R&B, Soul, Jazz, and Americana to create something beautiful and totally her own. She also wants her work to reflect her love of justice and activism. Kirstie has previously released an album in 2020, and “Reform” is her first single of 2022.
