Heavy Hearts

I will openly admit that my metalcore knowledge is pretty primitive, so I was intrigued when I had the opportunity to review Heavy Hearts by Lo. Lo’s debut album features seven tracks, and by the final song, I was hooked. It was immediately evident that Lo is talented, and he so effortlessly switches between the harsh and clean vocals. The album is filled with unrelenting and skillful guitar riffs and driving drums. The clean vocal sections are engaging, with compelling and emotional lyrics, and when a song features a breakdown, Lo fills it with a tight rhyme. Heavy Hearts is a high energy, heavy piece of art that I can easily see becoming a fan favorite.
Lo is Logan Abdo, a solo artist out of Roxboro, NC. He draws inspiration from multiple genres other than metal, like dubstep, trap, and electronic. Listeners can definitely hear how this wide variety of interests has shaped his album. Logan also lives with Vater Syndrome, which he openly discusses on his socials. He hasn’t allowed this to keep him from enjoying live shows, and recently met with Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil. Logan has been working tirelessly on his music for a few years now, both alone and with his DJ, DJ Trickstyle, and his hard work is paying off. I’ll definitely be including more metalcore in my playlists, now!
