“Home to Me”
When I finally sat down to listen to Simone Cardoso, I was getting some sun by the pool after a week of nonstop rain. As it turns out, this was the perfect setting to be introduced to her. The Boston-based artist just emanates a chill vibe, and her voice blurs the lines of pop and R&B. Her newest single, “Home To Me,” came out earlier this year. This love song reminisces on the beginning stages of a budding romance, and how her relationship now feels like home.
Cardoso’s vocals are light, almost airy, throughout the song. She is backed by fun harmonies that add some depth, but her lead melody floats by. The guitar and percussion in the background are also minimal, allowing her pure sound to take center stage. The entire song is short, sweet and honest, with a fresh sound but nostalgic lyrics. Cardoso has all the makings of a future pop/R&B diva, and “Home To Me” has “song of the summer” written all over it. I will be eagerly waiting for her full EP to drop.
